2/24/2017

Join fellow Kentucky planners at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park, Kentucky for the APA-KY Spring Conference! Mark your calendars for May 17th-19th and get ready for dynamic education sessions, exciting networking opportunities, and fun with friends at the lake!

There will be two conference tracks:
  1. Track emphasis on tools - sessions geared towards innovative GIS applications, effective public engagement, ethics, law, neighborhood revitalization, and small town / rural planning.
  2. Track hearing about planning emerging trends - sessions focusing on autonomous vehicles, shifts in housing demand, climate change.

Upcoming Registration Dates:
Monday, April 17th is the last day to make your room reservations with our conference guaranteed rate of $71.96 per night.  Please call the Lake Cumberland State Resort Park at (800) 325-1709 for individual room reservations. Make hotel reservations early and mention the APA-KY (KAPA) conference.

Monday, April 24th is the last day to register at the early rates.  After the 24th, conference rates increase by $25.  Please go to http://www.apaky.org/events and click on the link for registration.  You can also find the preliminary program there.

Cancellation Policy:
APA-KY Spring Conference reservations will be refunded in full if cancelled on or before April 24th, 2017.  Cancelled reservations will not be refunded after April 24th, 2017.  We recognize that issues come up last minute – if they do, you will be able to send another individual in your place.

Planning Commissioner Training:
As part of the conference there is a one-day Planning Commissioner Workshop.  This will qualify for 8 hours of HB continuing education credit for planning commissioners, planners, and staff.  Specific topics to be covered include high tech ideas / resources, land use and zoning law, low tech ideas (permits, websites, collaboration), ethics, and practical needs.

The agenda for the Planning Commissioner Workshop on May 18 may be downloaded by clicking here.

Continuing Education Credits:
All Spring Conference sessions are certified for HB 55 and AICP CM credit!  We are working to cross-list with ALSA on several sessions as well.  Attendees are able to earn 6.5 hours of credit on Thursday and 5.0 hours of credit on Friday.

For more information, please contact Conference Committee Co-Chairs Megan Enyeart Chan (mchan@gscplanning.com) or Lindsay Walker (lindsay.walker@kimley-horn.com).
