The position requires at least Bachelors Degree in a planning-related field. The position will be responsible for planning activities and routine planning functions. The salary is based upon education and experience with a salary range from $25,000 to $50,000 and the hiring range from $25,000 to $35,000. There is a competitive fringe package available. Together, with a staff of 10, the Director is responsible for strengthening the economic and aesthetic viability and physical function of the City, working with diverse neighborhoods, preserving architectural and historic attributes and improving and enhancing the quality of life of those who live and work in Paducah, as well as visitors who frequent and enjoy all that the City has to offer. The Director of Planning is a key member of the City’s Management Team, reports to the City Manager, and will develop strong collaborative efforts with the internal department partners to facilitate the City’s Mission of being financially sustainable, provide first class services delivered in a cost effective manner and has quality infrastructure and facilities. The City engages citizens, exercises community leadership on local public service issues and is recognized as a regional leader. Ten years of progressive experience in Planning and Community Development required. AICP certification preferred.
