The City of Beckley, West Virginia, is inviting qualified consulting firms and/or teams to submit Proposals for the review and update of the 2014 Beckley Comprehensive Plan, in accordance with West Virginia State Code §8A-3. Public notification of the appended Request for Proposals (RFP) will be published tomorrow in the local newspaper of general circulation. This RFP has also been submitted to the APA for posting on the RFP/RFQ Search page. The selected consulting firm or team will lead the City of Beckley, support staff, and community volunteers in conducting comprehensive surveys and studies of current conditions, services, and anticipated future changes within the City of Beckley. The primary aim is to update the existing 2014 Beckley Comprehensive Plan rather than starting anew. The selected consultant will assess the current Plan and identify sections or elements that should be retained, revised, or removed. Full RFP can be found here. Georgetown-Scott County Planning Commission is seeking an entry level, professional planner who performs a variety of administrative and technical work oriented to current, long range and/or community planning. This team member’s work will include research, analysis, plan/report preparation, and work with committees and the public, in a supportive role to the Planner II and other office staff. Education: Bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration, or related field is required. Experience: Minimum one (1) year of professional planning experience, including internships, of a progressively responsible nature in a public or private planning agency is required.
