GIS Technician
Salary Range: $32,000 - $36,000 DOQ

Georgetown-Scott County, located in the northern Lexington MSA, is offering an excellent opportunity in one of the state’s fastest growing communities. This entry level position updates and maintains the GIS database for three municipalities and County government, and performs cartographic production utilizing ESRI ArcGIS and open source products. Data consists of a wide range of emergency, clerical, political, environmental/physical, development, and other datasets pertaining to government services in Scott County. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, planning, or related field, and one (1) year of experience preferred. Louisville's Office of Advanced Planning is seeking an experienced Urban Planner with experience in multi-modal transportation who can apply critical thinking and creative problem-solving to:

• Develop and implement sustainable, multi-modal transportation strategies at the local, regional, or national levels in collaboration with other professionals and agencies.
• Manage multiple projects at one time to implement the goals of Louisville Metro Government's Multi-Modal Transportation Plan (Move Louisville), including complex planning studies, corridor plans, and implementation of transportation projects, including the supervision of outside consultants.
• Engage the community to gather input and feedback on projects and planning studies in order to build consensus and assure plan/project implementation. This includes attending public meetings and workshops outside of normal business hours.
• Coordinate with government agencies and organizations to assure successful project implementation and coordination with other community planning documents and goals.
• Develop project budgets and coordinate with department heads to assure adequate funding for projects.
• Analyze and visualize data including land use, transportation and socio-economic data, by choosing the data that best tell the story in a way that's easy to understand with multiple data analysis tools, such as Microsoft Excel, Stata, SPSS, ESRI ArcGIS or R.
• Assist with securing services, grants, loans and other forms of available funding from sponsoring agencies.
• Research, analyze and resolve complex transportation design issues in collaboration with engineers, architects and designers.
• Attend and hold meetings with members of the public, partnering agencies, organizations or appointed and elected officials

Additional Qualifications

• Master's degree (or higher) required. Degree focus in Transportation Planning, Public Policy, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field is required.
• At least 3 years of previous experience in transportation, urban planning or project management is required.
• Work experience in a customer service field is a plus.
• Web and computer skills should include social media tools, MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and experience with ESRI GIS Suite.

Compensation

• Minimum salary $50,000 annually, including full benefits. Salary commensurate with experience.

​PDS of Kenton County is requesting qualification submissions from professional consulting firms to review and diagnose the zoning ordinances for each of the 19 jurisdictions located within Kenton County to determine whether those regulations promote the city’s/county’s vision and produces desired outcomes.
