Job Opportunity with the Bourbon County Joint Planning Office

The Bourbon County Joint Planning Office is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Planning Technician. This person will serve as the first point of contact for the Planning Office, from answering phones to welcoming visitors.  Responsibilities will include educating customers about  application requirements, conducting preliminary technical review of applications, coordinating meetings and taking meeting minutes, and assisting with the development of streamlined paperless approaches to the Planning Office's work programs. Minimum qualifications are an Associate's degree in a related field (geography, information systems/technology, planning, engineering) supplemented by two years of experience working in a planning-related role. Desired qualifications are a familiarity and experience with computer mapping programs and website maintenance.    

Paris, Kentucky is a compact walkable town with a thriving small business community. The Main Street area is home to boutiques, consignment shops, art galleries, the Hartfield Bourbon Distillery, Rooster Brew microbrewery, many eateries, and is home to a year round daily farmers market and a downtown YMCA.  The rural parts of the county are characterized as horse and cattle farms resting along the rolling hills; many of which are bordered by historic stone fencing.  A quaint and picturesque place to live while located just 16 miles northeast of Lexington.
