Senior Environmental Planner - OKI

​The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) seeks a self-motivated Senior Planner able to develop project proposals, work programs and budgets for environmental programs. Knowledge of State and local agencies responsible for land use management, natural resources, environmental protection, conservation, historic preservation, tourism and natural disaster risk. Ability to prepare and present analyses, evaluation and recommendations on potential environmental mitigation activities including various types of green infrastructure applications, community development activities, and conservation practices. Knowledge of environmental planning as it relates to transportation systems and community development; understanding of the National Environmental Policy Act and its requirements related to transportation planning and project delivery (direct NEPA experience is desirable), watershed management.

Responsibilities: Project management, data collection and analyses, report writing, GIS mapping, meeting preparation and presentations, contact with local governments, business interests, the public and consultants. May oversee the work of other employees and consultants.

Qualifications: MS/MA in environmental planning, urban planning, transportation engineering or related field, and three years of experience with progressively complex assignments requiring sound decision making and judgment. A combination of extensive experience and a Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for the Master's degree requirement Local government experience desirable. Excellent verbal, written, computer, and organizational skills required. Experience in securing and managing planning and implementation grants, and experience with GIS a plus. Starting salary range is commensurate with experience; beginning is around $60K.
